Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 36

walking up hillsThe pandemic has been scrubbed from the front pages at this point and replaced by a different hysteria du jour, but the semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a steady stream of comments, so I'm opening yet another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

With that said, as the vaccinated keep catching Covid (and many of them never quite seem to get over it) while the rest of us are fine, the floor is open for discussion.

Ok, now I'm sobbing, jerk. :)

Yeah, this was a good one. Thanks for sharing. It's funny how you can find answers, and a miracle or two, if you just stop talking long enough to listen. I felt that whole essay, from start to finish. But I really felt the bit about not knowing how to wrap your mind around the crimes that are happening, around damn near the devil seeming to be present in the world. It's like seeing a tsunami come in and trying to logic out a response. How do you do it? Hold on is how ;)

Some positive observations from NZ

[personal profile] kiwigaz 2022-04-15 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hello all,

As Ive mentioned here previously since December Ive been actively not wearing masks when in shops in NZ.

Untill last week with the exception of single occasion I was the only unmasked person in large supermarket type establishments (100s of people present).

At the start of this week I was in a shop and on going to the cashier I passed another guy also unmakasked with who I exchanged a big cheeky grin - it was obvious we where on the same page....

Then I get to the chk out and the girl at the chk out (not seeing the above) remarks, "It so good to actually see a face"......I said she didnt need to wear her mask on my account. I then said she should remove heres if she doesnt want to wear it and tell people to F%%k off if they didnt like it. Prehaps a little to much for her so I then said "hey I understand your position and your likely loose your job if you do that...."

Then yesterday I was in another supermarket getting some milk on the way home form work and Mother and son where also both unmaasked (note son was over 12 and so should have had a mask,,,,)

So all good news in my book - hopefully people are getting feedup of the BS!!!!

I agree. I think the long, peaceful protest at Parliament was a turning point. It came to a violent end, because some outsiders (in my opinion, agents provocateurs) barged in and did some violent, stupid things. However, I have seen extensive videos of the protest, and it was, for the most part, a happy event in which people from all walks of life got to know each other and expand their circle of friends.

Meanwhile, I was not at the protest. I was fighting on a different front. in the Orthodox church, we have a type of intercessory prayer service known as an Akathist. There are Akathists to Christ, the Theotokos and a number of saints. About 10 of us at our parish prayed the akathist to the Mother of God, "Softener of Evil Hearts" for 40 days.

https://www.stinnocentchurch.com/files/Akathist-to-the-Mother-of-God---Softener-of-Evil-Hearts.pdf

This protest happened within the 40 days of our prayers. Interestingly enough, the final Police assault happened within a day after we had concluded the 40 day cycle. Coincidence? Methinks not!

Since then, I have seen the same quiet non-compliance you have seen. As Étienne de la Boetie said, "Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces."

I live in the Seattle, and I've been pleasantly surprised the last few times I've gone to the major hometown coffee company to find the plexiglass has been taken down (although they're keeping it in a closet, just in case).

(Anonymous) 2022-04-18 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Plexiglass and plastic protections are stupid, because it's really easiest to be contagied by motionless air than in places qhere the air is moving all the time.
By the way, I went to a bar 2 weeks ago and they still had the stupid giant plastic "protection" for the barmen...They told me there was a lot of heat there in the "protected area".

I keep hearing each new variant is more transmissible at the moment, is it just possible that rather than being more transmissible, each new variant is making the vexxed more susceptible which makes it look more transmissible? I'm unvexxed and I caught Wild type and then beta variant in 2020 ( and got some serious long covid for 6 months after the second bout) but since then haven't had anything approaching a cold (touch wood)

Transmissibility

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That appears to be true (higher susceptibility in vaxxed) with the two main Omicron families that have been circulating.

Beyond that, though, once a majority of a population has had experience with a virus (which has been true with covid for some time now), it doesn't make much sense to claim that each new variant is "more transmissible". It will appear that way in the sense that it is transmitting more rapidly than previous variants in the current moment, but individual-level immunity and the ability of the virus to overcome this immunity will matter far more in terms of spread and prevalence than the inherent r0 value (which will become increasingly difficult to calculate).

"The virus is becoming more transmissible" is a more narrative-acceptable headline than the more accurate "the virus is evading existing immunity" or "vaccine efficacy against infection is turning negative."

More on "Evidence-Based Medicine"

[personal profile] scotlyn 2022-04-15 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Another fascinating critique of "evidence-based medicine" (EBM) first published in 1998 in Quarterly Medicine Journal, then re-posted in full by this blogger last year. Like the blogger, I find it startlingly topical.

Read in full here: https://bluewatsons.tumblr.com/post/643518173530996736/b-g-charlton-a-miles-the-rise-and-fall-of ("The Rise and Fall of EBM" by BG Charlton and A Miles)

A pithy quote, relevant to several of the themes regularly address in the ecosophia blogs:

"It is doubtful whether such a crude, question-begging tactic as naming oneself ‘evidence-based’ would have had much influence upon clinicians and medical scientists. However, the proponents of EBM cleverly bypassed doctors and appealed directly to politicians, health service managers, public health professionals and the newly expanded ranks of number-crunchers’ (epidemiologists, biostatisticians, information technologists, health economists, etc.). Such personnel had emerged in enormous numbers as a consequence of the centralizing and regulating tendency of the NHS reforms, and they were seeking tools of legitimation.

"EBM was seized upon by managers and their myrmidons, and promoted with a massive injection of publicity, money and organizational infrastructure. The consequence has been an astonishing trans- formation from the clinically-led approach of CE to the managerially-led approach of EBM. Instead of a bottom-up system using epidemiology to inform good practice, the NHS bureaucracy has introduced a top-down system which employs statistical data to define, prescribe, monitor and enforce specific practices upon clinicians.

"It seems likely that NHS management were so quick to advance EBM because they saw its potential as a ‘quality assurance’ tool capable of regulating, not just medical practice, but the whole of the health service. Traditional managerial and audit methods require a conveniently measurable output, and clinical services are notoriously difficult to quantify. However ‘quality assurance’ audit concentrates not on performance but on the system— quality is defined and measured in terms of the operations of a control and feedback system."

I would just add that when one takes issue with an EBM "pronouncement" or statistic, or with "expert advice" derived from same, one is habitually accused of treating evidence casually, and/or of a cavalier disrespect for the professionalism of doctors. This piece of (I'd call it) journalism delves into the reasons both such accusations are baseless.

Thanks for the interesting read! And written in 1998. This quote illuminates:

A set of mission-statements was proposed as definitive of EBM: these took the form of platitudes which could not be opposed by any rational person; yet these content-free proclamations served to camouflage controversial ways of operating and marginalize opponents as wicked or crazy.

Made me think of the Sustainable Development Goals.

As from 30 October, in accordance with the latest revision of Decree No 121 of the City of St Petersburg Government, on entering the theatre one of the following certificates must be presented:
– EITHER a QR-code detailing a completed course of vaccination against the coronavirus infection (to be valid for one year);
– OR a QR-code confirming recovery from the virus (to be valid for 6 (six) months;
– OR a certificate confirming medical exemption from vaccination together with a negative PCR test taken one day before the event they are attending. A negative PCR test without a certificate confirming medical exemption will not be considered valid.

Those over the age of 60 (sixty) years may present, rather than a QR-code, a printed certification of vaccination, while those under the age of 18 (eighteen) years will be admitted to the theatre without a QR-code.
To gain access to the theatre, non-Russian citizens must provide a document confirming vaccination together with a negative PCR test taken one day before the event they are attending.

I like ballet.

I studied ballet (on an amateur level).

I think ballet is a beautiful art form.

I enjoy watching ballet.

The St. Petersburg Ballet is one of the world's great classical dance companies.

But guess what?

I don't like ballet, or any art form, well enough to show my papers (or a QR code) to attend.

And the people who make and enforce these policies are hereby invited to picture the image of my raised middle finger right here.

EXCERPT

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

The only reason I got my vaccine was because my oncologist strongly encouraged me to get it. Even after I told her I was worried about it because of my immune cancer. I avoided it for 6 months because my gut said I wouldn't fair well, and I was correct. Coincidentally, my oncologist quit her job shortly after...I wonder why?

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

2 weeks after 2nd Pfizer jabs, I developed neuropathy in left leg/foot. I had shooting electric shock like pains into toes, but now have pain in many areas of my body, including lung, chest, abdomen, and severe daily headaches. I have also developed a dangerous autoimmune clotting disorder called Hughes syndrome; however, I only know this because I'm a R.N., as I have tried to get diagnosed and treated by 2 hospitals, PTB regional/Sunnybrook, only to be turned away once they were aware it was vaccine related. I need brain aneurysm surgery, and I have had a history of a pulmonary embolism 25 years ago, so this is especially urgent...but I think they're hoping I die to be honest. Less evidence that way. Malpractice to the highest degree!

That could turn out to be true for a couple of billion people, maybe more. The time lag allows for much obfuscation and plausible deniability. Even if the truth ultimately comes out, when will that be - twenty years from now? Fifty years from now?

Kunstler quote

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
James Howard Kunstler's post for today (April 15, 2022) is well worth a read. In this quote Kunstler doesn't say anything readers of this forum do not already know, but he says it roaringly well:

"Medicine has succeeded completely in disgracing and destroying itself by lying about everything connected to Covid-19, from its origins, to the insanely outlawed treatments for it, to the harmful actions of the vaccines, to the hidden data that might tell us the results of all that lying. Twitter set the tone for that with its censorship policies. Anyone who suggested that lockdowns, masking, remdesivir protocols, and vaccine mandates violated common decency was tossed out of the arena, often with added punishment of losing a career, a professional license, a livelihood, and having to endure the betrayal of colleagues cowed into silence."

Read the essay: "You've Been Misinformed"

"violated common decency"-- INDEED.

Hey forum and JMG

I'm know it's been discussed but curious about what may have been a precogntive vision about mass deaths.
If anyone remembers and could describe again. Is it possible it was a vision about the war in Ukraine? Other parts of Europe and globe? Speculation is that Russia has nukes on that ship that sank. Granted this could be propaganda from the west?

Thanks

Re: About the dream

(Anonymous) 2022-04-16 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say there is a very high chance there were nukes on that ship. I'd think that's true for every Russian ship of a certain size. Certainly all of the subs.

Not sure why that's important tho? Wouldn't be the first time nuclear missiles get lost at sea and not the last time.

Langston Hughes thread

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
To those who are reading Freedom's Plow aloud with me, thank you. I've been reading Appleseed again, and these two poems in conjunction are really starting to have a resonance for me. In Praise of Johnny Appleseed is great at evoking the spirit of the land, the spirit of exploring, a Mark Twain, tall tale vibe. If Appleseed calls out the spirit of the land, Freedom's Plow calls out the spirit of America. Bringing the two together really vibrates! Both of these have made me want to dive back into the tall tales, Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, but John Henry especially. He feels like a guy who'd stand a chance against technocracy.

P Coyle, you're lucky you have a cat for an audience. When my girls hear me start to read, they always giggle and say "get to the part where he says "booty-seekers"!". I'm trying to lay some tracks and these two want to laugh. Keeps me young though. Reading this is helping me too. I don't know if it will have any effect out there, but it's having one in here. BTW, you can quote Petty any time you want. He's one of the greats.

For anyone who is interested, I was looking for a documentary on Hughes. There is a lot of fragmentary stuff, short videos, out there. I ran across this though, which is pretty good!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxMr46IUlDk

The link is to an hour long video about Hughes and his place in Harlem. There is an anecdote about how he was trying to grow a garden in front of his home. The neighborhood kids kept pulling up the plants, so he invited them over to plant the garden, he named each plant after a kid, and he created a sign with their names on it. After that, they took care of the garden for him. How's that for laying tracks in space?!

Weird conversation overheard today

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Was having lunch at a cafe today on our Easter holiday.

The couple next to us, around their 60s were chatting away.

Conversation moved to the fact a few of their friends had died suddenly in the last few weeks. It was a bit creepy.

They seemed a bit shocked but put it down to age (people who died were in their mid-60's from what I could gather).

May or may not be vaccine related, but I certainly have my suspicions...

Effectively Vaccinated Rate

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Resident of British Columbia here, and I often hear our gov crowing about how lifting restrictions was because of the very high vaccination rate (percentage reported for fully vaxxed varies from about 85 to 90-something percent of the whole pop). In BC, "fully vaccinated" means two shots; a third shot / booster is optional and strongly recommended. Sounds like the gov is now asking "vulnerable" folks to get a fourth shot / second booster due to waning immunity. Since the booster is not mandatory, and the gov hasn't threatened to starve anyone if they don't get it, it looks like the 1st booster uptake is about 50% of the total pop and staying put.

The gov acknowledges that vax effectiveness wanes over time. If they were being honest, there should be an "effectively vaccinated" percentage rate that's tracked over time. If the booster rate doesn't increase, then the overall percentage of people "effectively" vaxxed should slowly decline to 50% or whatever the booster uptake rate is.

I think the gov will never do anything like this, nor admit to the complete public health disaster they helped to create, but acknowledging this for myself is reassuring that the entire pop of BC hasn't gone stark raving mad.

My MLA(NDP) periodically sends me a glowing email about all the things the government has achieved. On April first I wrote back:

Dear ******,
Did you ever imagine when you started your political career that you would eventually become complicit in fascist corporate totalitarianism?
It's very strange to contemplate the places that just doing the best you can with good intentions can lead you. I imagine there was a time when you believed in lifting people up; not grinding them down. And yet here we are, after two years of fear-based propaganda orchestrated by the corporate media, still pretending that the fact that our rights have become privileges somehow doesn't really matter much and that all these comparatively minor achievements somehow do.
Does it feel weird to celebrate fixing a few broken bones while ignoring the gaping chest wound that is pouring out the lifeblood of our personal autonomy, democracy, and basic human rights?
It would to me.

She hasn't replied. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the date.

crap

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It has often been thought that this whole mess was due to the purposeful release of a bioweapon in Wuhan which explains the extreme reactions of initially the Chinese and then other western governments, these governments believing that, because it was a weapon, and one possibly designed by the west, it is highly deadly.

What I haven't seen suggested is that this could be true but that the weapon, like many modern western weapons, turned out to be crap. What was designed to be highly deadly, based on the initial specs, turned out to be as deadly as a harsh flu: the F-35 lardbucket of bioweapons?

This is not a spectacular observation in itself, especially for long-term readers of the ADR, but what is significant is that the powers that be, whether western or eastern, still fully believe(d) in their design specs rather than real-world performance. They all still believe in technological progress.

Likewise, because they believe(d) the design specs to be reflective of the real world, there was an urgency to combat the bioweapon and so vaccines with their own design specs were assembled, which, like the bioweapon, also turned out to be pure crap. Once more, governments everywhere believing the design specs over real-world performance, couldn't believe that not everyone would leap at the opportunity to receive the new high-tech vaccines, when many people suspected, like with other technology, that they would be crap.

This only became clear to me after seeing once more the performance of western weapons, this time in the Ukraine. Both western leaders and Russia, China and some others still believe in the performance of western weapons, which explains the ambition of the west and the relative reticence of the east thus far because they all still believe western weapons aren't crap.

The irony here is that the crap bioweapon might only reach design spec after deployment of the crap vaccines everywhere and crap weapons in Ukraine leading to weakened immune systems and all the consequences of food shortages. What may look like conspiracy to the naive is just the confluence of crap.

Interesting observations. I guffawed at 'the F-35 lardbucket of bioweapons.' I'm going to read again.

Two data points that just came in today, April 15

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Zerohedge is reporting that California, who was ready to force all children to be vaccinated to attend school, etc., is now saying that vaccinations will not be required until July 2023. Link here: https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/california-balks-vax-mandate-schoolchildren-will-delay-until-least-july-2023
This looks like a big step back.

2. A close relative who works for a very large government agency just got notification (in writing) that the agency is no longer insisting on vaccines. It wasn't exactly "we are dropping the mandate," but was more along the lines of "yeah, never mind..."

Something has changed. I am hopeful for much more.

Babies

(Anonymous) 2022-04-15 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Readers here may recall that last year La Quita Columna shared a video of black eyed babies who were supposedly the children of the vaxxed. The babies were said to have head control and muscularity that was too advanced for their age. Several commentors said it was all so fake.

I was inclined that way myself. So I was amazed yesterday, when an acquaintance of mine proudly shared a picture on his phone of his new grandson. Really, a black eyed baby. The kid had almost no white to his creepy sparkly bright eyes. He was holding his head up very sturdily and making eye contact, for a baby who was two weeks old in the picture.

His proud grandpa says that he is a very nice little guy.

Is there something about photographing babies on phones that makes their eyes look black and sparkly?

The title reminded me of one of my favorite Dmitry Orlov wisecracks, from 2009

...I have learned from experience ¬ luckily, from other people's experience ¬ that being a superpower collapse predictor is not a good career choice. I learned that by observing what happened to the people who successfully predicted the collapse of the USSR. Do you know who Andrei Amalrik is? See, my point exactly. He successfully predicted the collapse of the USSR. He was off by just half a decade. That was another valuable lesson for me, which is why I will not give you an exact date."

The whole lecture can be read at: https://www.organicconsumers.org/news/getting-prepared-great-collapse-dmitry-orlov

None of the things he spoke about should be unfamiliar to readers here familiar with JMG (possible exception of his description of how the USSR was structured in a way that cushioned the impact of economic collapse on its population-- LT;DR-- they had in important ways, already collapsed first and avoided the rush.)

His bio: "Geert Vanden Bossche received his DVM from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and his PhD degree in Virology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He held adjunct faculty appointments at universities in Belgium and Germany. After his career in Academia, Geert joined several vaccine companies (GSK Biologicals, Novartis Vaccines, Solvay Biologicals) to serve various roles in vaccine R&D as well as in late vaccine development. Geert then moved on to join the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Discovery team in Seattle (USA) as Senior Program Officer; he then worked with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) in Geneva as Senior Ebola Program Manager. At GAVI he tracked efforts to develop an Ebola vaccine. He also represented GAVI in fora with other partners, including WHO, to review progress on the fight against Ebola and to build plans for global pandemic preparedness. Back in 2015, Geert scrutinized and questioned the safety of the Ebola vaccine that was used in ring vaccination trials conducted by WHO in Guinea. His critical scientific analysis and report on the data published by WHO in the Lancet in 2015 was sent to all international health and regulatory authorities involved in the Ebola vaccination program. After working for GAVI, Geert joined the German Center for Infection Research in Cologne as Head of the Vaccine Development Office. He is at present primarily serving as a Biotech / Vaccine consultant while also conducting his own research on Natural Killer cell-based vaccines."

Japan Canceled Annual Report of Demographic Trends

[personal profile] weilong 2022-04-16 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I had been waiting for the Japanese government to publish the annual report of demographic trends, which contains detailed mortality statistics. Such reports have been published for the last 26 years, at least.

Turns out that the ministry has decided not to publish the report for 2021. They make some excuse about not being able to make an accurate report because of large changes over the last couple of years or something - it doesn't really make sense. Of course, the obvious conclusion is that the report would have revealed something embarrassing.

Well said:

"it should not be the job of our government to stop viruses from spreading by rationing social interaction among healthy people"

Here's Rintrah's own post, "Lockdowns are incompatible with Western civilization" April 14, 2022

"As someone who has been speaking out against the lockdowns since march 2020, there are some things I’ve noticed that we could have done better. Fundamentally I think, not enough emphasis has been placed on a very simple principle: That the notion of a government prohibiting social interaction among healthy people to avoid overburdening the healthcare system is unprecedented in Western history. In the atmosphere of collective mass hysteria of March 2020, this simple fact received little attention.

"And yet, as I argued on Eugyppius’ blog recently, it is within the fundamental incompatibility of the concept of a lockdown with our Western values, where we are going to find the key to avoid ever again repeating the tragedy that befell us on March 2020....
