Aeon Byte logoFor some reason my about-to-be-released book The King in Orange: The Magical and Occult Roots of Political Power is getting more than the usual amount of interest from the podcasting community.  (Partly the publisher, Inner Traditions, is doing a very good job of scaring up prospects, but I think it's more than that.) Here's the latest, a two hour interview with Miguel at Aeon Byte Gnostic Radio; the first half is free, the second is for subscribers. We had a good lively talk; Miguel's summary is spot on:

"This birds-eye view of archetypal/magical influences taps into the ideas of Robert Chambers, CG Jung, Ioan Culiano, Giordano Bruno, Oswald Spengler, and other magicians of the mind. The empire is collapsing, you see, and it’s a choice of becoming sacrificial victims or connecting with overlooked divinities and the land itself."

The King arrived at my place yesterday. He'll have to wait until tomorrow when Dr. Traverer is finished.

I'm very eager to receive my copy in a few days. I'm glad to hear that it is catching a lot of extra attention out there. The last several years have been a wild and unexpected ride. I think the conventional explanations offered for things like Trump and the considerable shift in the political landscape are pathetically inadequate. I think that many people now see the writing on the wall and realize that the empire is, indeed, collapsing. It is obvious that much has been hidden from view, and I think that occult explanations are a natural place to seek out better explanations of what has happened and what we might expect down the road.

I thought the people will see the betrayal of Trump on par with Christ's or Julius Caesar and then I saw this picture

Tidlösa here. I´m not sure if you know who "angelranger" is, but she sometimes comments on my blog, and has recently started to read your blogs, and says she likes your ideas more and more. She told me to give you her best regards, so that´s what I´m doing now!

I watched the free portion the other day -- very nice!

Also, something I've made note of; any public thinker or intellectual I consider worth paying attention to right now has appeared at least once on Miguel's Aeon Byte podcast, which I've been following for years now. Miguel is one of those people who has the rare gift of being able to gab amiably with people of a whole assortment of different perspectives and attitudes.

Is that a violation of the core authorial tenant: "All my success is my own, all my failings are my publisher's"? LOL

Not sure if you still check comments to posts a few days old, but if you do, I'm struck curious by you mentioning that others in trad occult circles have discussed Russia as the next great civilization and North America, etc. after that. Are these other people ones who might be recognizable and/or have published writings in their name?

Not at all, only heard of the Theosophical Society through your occult history posts on your main blog so far. I still am just occult-curious at this time, despite my pretentious username. Nevertheless, thanks for the name drops - when I start exploring occultism more, I have some names and their work to look up later in my practice. Thanks!

Speaking as an outsider who has spent time there:

There is a fairly intense and seemingly healthy spiritual substrate to Russian culture/society. It's unutilized outside of physical culture type movements at the moment, and more obvious problems currently cover it over. I've seen some really innovative stuff in martial arts from there, that unfortunately never seems to make it west. There is a thriving occult underground that the church, hilariously, seems more wary of than opposed to. The culture is already distinctive enough that some people are willing to argue they aren't "really" European; so it isn't difficult, for me at least, to imagine that as the basis of a new civilization.

The King in Orange

I got my book (King in Orange) a few days ago, and have been reading a little each night. I am enjoying it immensely. I don't follow magic or occult matters in general, so it was quite surprising to hear how much of that there was around the election of 2016, and also to better understand what qualifies as "magic". Well written book that I look forward to each night, and will probably read again soon after I finish it! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions too, but that's for your other blog.
Thanks so much for this book!!

My copy of The King in Orange arrived in my mailbox yesterday morning; this morning was spent reading a couple chapters of it allowed to my sleepy two-month old. He seemed to enjoy it as much as I did!

No matter how fussy the infant Sonkitten was, one song and one song only would always put him to sleep. The song? “Tom Dooley.” Didn’t matter if I sang it or the Kingston Trio sang it, as long as it was “Tom Dooley.”

I’m just glad it wasn’t “Helter Skelter.”

You've caught on to my cunning plan.

Seriously though, it was certainly strange reading about the four income-driven American class divisions, Hillary Clinton's unparalleled ineptitude, and Appalachian mountain dulcimers in a high-pitched baby friendly voice to a gurgling, snuggling infant, but I'm fairly certain no one sprouted any tentacles (that I noticed). He's likely to be assigned that book anyway in a dozen or fifteen years as part of his school curriculum (we're a homeschool family through and through) as part of a unit devoted to understanding what eldritch ingredients were flung into the bizarre cauldron that's boiling into the world he's fated to grow up in...
