The illustration? An astrologer at work. I've begun studying financial astrology, using the writings of Walter Gorn Old (aka Sepharial) and David Williams as initial guides. Since my mundane astrology project has gone very well so far, with several hundred subscribers, I figure it's time to start expanding the range of things I know how to do, and I feel rather like the guy in the image -- well, except I don't wear a ruff.
I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the button above to access my online tip jar. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

after-death process
Date: 2021-12-06 06:07 am (UTC)A member of my family who had been in declining health for several months, took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago. During these months we spent more time together than usual and deepened our relationship. They went into hospice care on the night of Friday, November 19 and died this past Friday afternoon. I was told of the passing a couple of hours later. I lit a candle for them that night with no special ceremony.
Tonight is well into the third day of the period between the first and second deaths and I don't know what if anything to do, think about, or watch out for. I have some of Dion Fortune's books, but not Through the Gates of Death. I have access to your first Druidry Book and the DMH. The only relevant text from my ancestral tradition that I have much familiarity with is Ecclesiastes.
During the past few months, I sent blessings and love to this person, and made extra offerings to deities that I have relationships with. I continued on with this, feeling a fairly strong connection with my relative, after they went into hospice care. They lingered longer than anyone expected and I finally realized that I should tell them not to stay on my account. Since Thursday, radio silence and no dreams about them, which does not surprise me.
Do you have any advice for me?
Re: after-death process
Date: 2021-12-06 06:28 am (UTC)Second, don't worry about it. Death is a natural, healthy process, and your family member is well on their way into the process. The lack of dreams or psychic connection is a good sign that everything went the way it should; if the person had a long illness, the second death could well have happened very quickly, in which case they're safe and sound on the other side. Mourn them, celebrate their life, remember the good memories, and let go.
Re: after-death process
Date: 2021-12-06 06:44 am (UTC)Secondly, if I might share a bit as someone who lost a beloved family member after a long illness not so long ago and has been dealing with it (my mother, 3 years ago):
a. The most important thing I had to learn was that "understanding" what had happened was not the same thing as working through it - yeah, sure, you may know that their suffering is over and have accepted that they've moved on, but it still really hurts and really sucks that they're gone and you can't see/talk to them
b. Finding the right ways to talk about and cope with this can be very helpful, whether that's through prayer, journaling, therapy, or whatever else
c. If you have other close family members mourning, it can be tough, especially if anyone involved wants to turn it into "grief olympics" to compete over who is the most distraught. No one's claim on grief is greater than yours, your grief is not diminished or lessened by other friends or family members having different reasons to be sad
d. You might find works dealing with grief helpful, but be careful! I read When Breath Becomes Air after hearing it was a very powerful treatment of grief and dying. I didn't realize it was about someone being diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer with zero history of smoking, and leaving behind a growing family, all of which was much closer to home than I knew when I started the book. It was good, and I did get value out of it, but if I had known it was going to leave me sobbing, I might not have read it on my lunch break at work
Again, my deepest condolences, and I send plenty of healing and strengthening energy your way,
Jeff
