The Wealth of Nature proposes a new model of economics based on the integral value of ecology. Building on the foundations of E.F. Schumacher's revolutionary "economics as if people mattered", this book examines the true cost of confusing money with wealth. By analyzing the mistakes of contemporary economics, it shows how an economy centered on natural capital—the ecological cycles that support human life—can move our society toward a more productive relationship with the planet that sustains us all. Profoundly insightful and impeccably argued, this book is required reading for anyone interested in the intersection of the environment and the economy as we enter the twilight of the Age of Abundance.

About the only difference I could point to in 'After Progress' is that the ITER now has an estimated cost of 25 billion euro where as in the book it was still only 17 billion. Needless to say, your points have aged very well.

Date: 2021-09-15 12:26 am (UTC)Schumacher's personal collection of books and archives is held by the Schumacher Center for a New Economics library in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The center continues the work of Schumacher by maintaining a research library, organising lectures and seminars, publishing papers, developing model economic programs, and providing technical assistance to groups all for the purpose of linking people, land, and community to build strong, diverse local economies.[15] Den:)

Date: 2021-09-16 05:24 am (UTC)Congratulations!
Date: 2021-09-15 01:58 pm (UTC)I read the first edition when it was first published. It was very good. I used it extensively as a source book when I was still being invited by leftists to make presentations about environmental and energy issues. I no longer get such invitations now! Never mind!
Congratulations for the second printing though!

Date: 2021-09-15 05:31 pm (UTC)Only related in that it's about one of your books from Founders House - I just received my Weird of Hali Cookbook (and it looks great! Can't wait to try some of the recipes), only I received two copies instead of the one I ordered and paid for. Any requests/recommendations on what to do with the second copy?
