In the end it will be decided by the much maligned electoral college, hence the 538 omens. What gets me is the persistent even-steven division which has been plaguing us for some time now with no significant majority no matter who wins. Malign magic? Voter fraud? People just flipping a coin to decide? Whatever it is, the result is that nobody will be happy with the outcome.
It's sad because I stood in line to vote here in my small NH town for over half an hour in chilly weather (amazingly I didn't even get a sniffle afterwards). Even with all the absentee ballots, people still showed up in droves to vote or register so they could vote. There's clearly much passion but we don't seem to know how to direct it. Everybody seems to be waiting for their leaders to provide direction not realizing a sense of direction must come from within. Something will galvanize us eventually but until then we will be treated to this sad spectacle.
