Second, this image was heavily influenced by Renaissance culture, which borrowed from the Romans the idea that all Pagan gods and goddesses could be equated to their Roman equivalents. I don't know if the syncretism ever went beyond that literary habit, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of the Scandinavian Rosicrucians like Johannes Bureus got into that.
