That's what differentiates occultism from magic, on the one hand, and mysticism on the other. The magician focuses on power, the mystic focuses on love, but the occultist seeks wisdom. That's been neglected in recent years, with results we can see all around us; some of my recent publications are aimed at trying to fill the gap, and fortunately there are still excellent works from the golden age of American occultism that cover the same ground very well (Manly P. Hall is a good source, and so are the books William Walker Atkinson wrote under the name "Yogi Ramacharaka").
