astrologer at workIt's getting on for midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. Any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. (Any question received after then will not get an answer, and will more than likely just be deleted.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ here.

The illustration?  An astrologer at work. I've begun studying financial astrology, using the writings of Walter Gorn Old (aka Sepharial) and David Williams as initial guides. Since my mundane astrology project has gone very well so far, with several hundred subscribers, I figure it's time to start expanding the range of things I
know how to do, and I feel rather like the guy in the image -- well, except I don't wear a ruff.

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the button above to access my online tip jar. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain other gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I now have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed. See you next week!***

That one is good! I would definitely agree that Love springs from being attentive in the sense you mention as by unflinchingly paying attention to the realities of the dynamisms of life what else could come but an embracing awe at the magnificence?

Thanks for sharing your post, I especially liked your analogy of the flower bud - it brought together the elements and their link to spiritual development rather nicely for me. Now thinking about how love fits into that sounds like a good theme for meditation.

Thank you. This looks like it actually has a lot of humor—all too rare in religious books!

Thank you, that is good advice!

We definitely need better words for Love and I definitely need to find a word that expresses not only the bursting feeling that comes from realizing a deep unity with someone but something that speaks of the unifying awe that can come from realizing the Unity that mystics speak about or the creative powers that spring existence into being in the Hindu lore and the Genesis --or the Shout of Joy that burst wholly co-instantaneously with the sound of the name of God proclaimed by Himself that is spoken of in Barddas. Now that you've brought that into my attention in the same paragraph it was Einigan the Giant who heard the voice --in three vocalizations as it is said-- when he found himself existing co-momentaneously with the voice. Thanks! I think now I know where to go look for my answer and it was, after all, "meditate on it!". Hmm, I wonder what would happen if I ask Einigan the Giant to tell me more about it.

For what it's worth, each time my wife has been pregnant someone in our immediate social circle has been warned in advance by a dream-- long before we told anyone about it. Two times out of three, I had very intense dreams where I saw the child and interacted with it. (The third didn't make it to term and didn't even make it halfway through the first trimester; traditionally, at this point in the pregnancy the incarnating spirit is only very tenuously connected with the body.) I believe this sort of thing is actually very common, but it's the kind of thing no one talks about, because of, you know, the Thought Police.

Do you think robes like this would be necessary for Heathen GD? So far I haven't used them as I figured they were more of a druid thing.

JMG, have you encountered any demons? For at least 2,000 years people have been puzzling over why they’d bother to possess someone, and your answer, that their minds are so alien (5 + 5 = petunia) that we’ll never understand them nor they us, is not only the most logical I’ve found, it sounds like you’ve observed the species up close.

I always wondered if Frederick Brown had encountered any demons; his “Arena” is so realistic in describing what it would be like to encounter an inimical and completely alien intelligence. For those who’ve only seen the Star Trek TV version, the original story is considerably harsher. Being human, the hero, whose name I forget, first tries to negotiate, and immediately learns it’s impossible, there being nothing even resembling a common ground on which they could begin.

Druidry Not Based in Golden Dawn Tradition

Dear JMG:

You may have answered this question before. Are there Druid traditions that are not related to the GD or any other systems that include magic. Is it possible to be a Druid mystic and practice no magic.

Trying to figure out what the heck I am.

Much love,
Elizabeth

Interesting, I'll meditate on that! Is there any benefit to looking at the same figures in a house chart? Or when you do the divination, should you only pick one layout and stick with that?

long-term impacts of SOP on others

JMG,

Do you have any sense of what might happen to children who grow up in a house where the SOP is regularly performed? My kids are older (teen and almost teen) and I have been doing the SOP for three years so far. Sometimes I make the sphere big enough to encompass our whole house and they are typically here when I am doing so. When they move out will they face problems if they don't start a banishing practice of their own after years of living in a spiritually cleansed environment? Will it have other positive or negative impacts on them? Just curious! Thank you.

I am aware of the statements by the Holy Father and some other clerics in the Church. My praxis is clearly outside the mainstream, and I do not think that Santa Muerte is an evil demon that I'll need St. Joseph to chase off for me. This wouldn't be the first devotion that the Church condemned, then later changed her mind about. The Divine Mercy devotion was once condemned, only later to be approved: http://www.angelusonline.org/index.php?article_id=2895§ion=articles&subsection=show_article.
